About
Lingua is Seattle Pacific University’s art and literary journal which features visual art and creative writing by members of the SPU community. This publication began in 1978 as a revival of the literary journal Essence, going under the name Second Essence until 2005 when it was renamed to Lingua. Lingua is more than just a journal; it is a collective of creative minds that exist to unite artists and non-artists alike in celebration and self-expression.
